General instructions for practice

  • Try to gather energy with your practice rather than deplete it.
  • Keep your face neck and throat relaxed and breathe trough the nose unless instructed otherwise.
  • Don’t force your way into a posture, only go to your limit and not beyond.

Making the practice easier

  • Look down not up
  • Keep arms/hands on hips rather than extended away from the body
  • Bend your knees slightly in forward bending positions or to reach the floor when standing
  • Use plank instead of caturanga (push up)
  • Use up plank (kneeling or straight legs) instead of up dog
  • Use kneeling dog instead of down dog

Making the practice harder

  • Apply the teachers instructions that deepen the intensity of the pose
  • Do not rest between postures
  • Use only one or two breaths to move between postures
  • Maintain grip of the bandhas while keeping the face neck and throat relaxed
